This 5-day Tangier Morocco tour takes us to some of the country’s most beautiful destinations, including Chefchaouen, Fes, Rabat, and Assilah. Enjoy the grandeur of Morocco’s north, visit the country’s busiest cities, and learn about its culture, crafts, and way of life.
Today we will begin our 5-day journey from Tangier, passing via the Rif Highlands and Tetoun City, taking in the breathtaking views of the majestic mountains until we arrive in Chefchaouan, one of the most beautiful settlements at the foot of the Rif Mountains.
The medina of Chefchaouen featured a Spanish-style square surrounded by many eccentric arts and crafts boutiques, roof-top restaurants and cafes where you may spend your night in a beautiful area to enjoy the breeze and nature’s beauty.
Our journey to Volubilis begins after a delicious breakfast at the riad, passing via Ouazan and other Rif settlements. We will see the Roman ruins in Volubilis and learn about Moroccan history, after that we will drive to Meknes city (a 17th-century heritage) where we will stop for lunch and explore the ancient walls of the medina, Bab el Mansour, and the Moulay Ismail shrine. Later in the afternoon, we’ll travel to Fes, where we’ll spend the night.
Following breakfast, you will begin your visit to the world’s oldest Medina with a local professional tour guide. You’ll take a walking tour of the Medina, stopping at the Royal Palace’s gateway, the 9th-century Karouine mosque, and the University.
The tomb of the city’s founder, “Moulay Idriss II,” will also be visited. Lunch will be served at one of the old Medina’s typical restaurants. Following lunch, your tour will continue to the Najarine Fountain, the historic Harem Garden, and the Batha Museum. You’ll pause for a panoramic view of the city on your way back to the Riad.
Fez is divided into three sections, the oldest of which is Fes el Bali, which is encompassed by a large wall and contains about 9000 narrow lanes and alleys. Fes-Jdid, or New Fez, is home to the Mellah, or Jewish quarter, as well as the Ville Nouvelle, which was built under French rule. UNESCO has designated Fes el Bali as a World Heritage Site. We’ll be driving to Rabat and Casablanca later today.
Today, we continue our private Morocco tour from Tangier, driving from Casablanca to Assilah and returning to Tangier in the evening.
