On the first day, we will pick you up from your hotel or Fez Saiss Airport for a city tour. Fez is full of history and amazing places. We will start at the Royal Palace Gate, explore the Mellah (Jewish Quarter), and then enter the old Medina via the Blue Gate (Bab Boujloud). We will visit cool places like the Bou Inania Madrasa, Najjarine Fountain, the Tanneries, and the Quaraouin Mosque and University, the oldest university in the world. After that, we will head to an old fortress for a beautiful view of the city before bringing you back to your riad for the night.
After breakfast, we will travel south via Imouzzer and stop in Ifrane, a pretty town with European-style buildings and cool weather. Next, we will visit the Cedars Forest to see the monkeys. We will continue through the Middle Atlas Mountains and stop in Midelt for lunch. Then, we will drive through the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and along the Ziz River. In the afternoon, we will reach Merzouga, where we will ride camels across the sand dunes to watch the sunset. We will enjoy Berber drumming by the campfire, a tasty dinner at the luxury desert camp, and spend the night under the stars.
We recommend waking up early to watch a desert sunrise before riding camels back to Merzouga. Our trip continues with off-road driving to an ancient eyeliner mine. Then, we will visit nomadic families to learn about their unique way of life and enjoy a cup of Berber tea. Next, visit Khamlia village, where we will experience the hypnotic rhythms of Gnaoua music, performed by descendants of sub-Saharan Africans. After lunch at a local restaurant, explore the lush palm groves and visit the serene Flamingos Lake before spending the night at a hotel in Merzouga.
After breakfast, we leave the desert and travel to Rissani, the historical capital of Tafilalet, where we can visit the lively market (souk) held on specific days. Next, we stop in Erfoud to visit a fossil workshop before continuing through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad. Arriving at Todra Gorges, admire the dramatic rock formations rising to 300 meters. We will have free time to explore before lunch. Later, we drive through Boumalne Dades to see the Monkey Fingers rock formation and a panoramic view of the valley. We will enjoy dinner and spend an overnight in a charming riad.
After breakfast, visit the Rose Valley, known for its fragrant rose products and annual festival in May. We then continue via the palm groves of Skoura before reaching Ouarzazate, the gateway to the desert, where you can visit film studios used in numerous Hollywood productions. Next, explore the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO-listed fortified village featured in films like Game of Thrones, Gladiator, and Mummy. After lunch, we will drive via the High Atlas Mountains through the scenic Tizi-n-Tichka pass. We will arrive in Marrakesh and spend overnight in a riad.
On day six, we will explore Marrakesh with a guided tour. We will see famous places like the Koutoubia Mosque, Ben Youssef Madrasa, Saadian Tombs, and Bahia Palace. Additionally, we will visit the busy souks and Jemaa el-Fna Square, which is full of performances and food. In the afternoon, you will have free time to explore museums and gardens or go shopping before returning to the riad.
After breakfast on the final day, depending on your flight, you may have time for some last-minute shopping or sightseeing. When it is time for your flight, we will take you to Marrakesh Menara Airport, ending your 7-day in Morocco.
