Ultimate 8 Days Tour from Casablanca Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Casablanca, Morocco

We begin the tour with a pickup from Casablanca airport, port, or your accommodation. Casablanca is the largest city and economic hub in Morocco. Our first visit is to the Hassan II Mosque, the largest in Morocco, beautifully perched on the Atlantic Ocean. You will have some free time for lunch, followed by a tour of the highlights of the city, including a visit to the lively Corniche, a seaside promenade with ocean views and cafés. Enjoy your first night with an overnight stay in a hotel in Casablanca.

Day 2:Casablanca – Rabat – Chefchaouen

After breakfast, we will drive along the scenic Atlantic coast to Rabat, the current capital of Morocco and one of its four imperial cities. Here, we will visit the main landmarks of the city: the Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the picturesque Kasbah of the Udayas. After free time for lunch, we continue our trip north through Ouazzane, heading into the Rif Mountains to reach the Blue City of Chefchaouen. Known for its peaceful atmosphere and blue-painted streets and buildings, Chefchaouen offers a unique and serene experience. Overnight stay in a riad in Medina.

Day 3:Chefchaouen- Volubilis - Meknes – Fes

After breakfast in Chefchaouen, we will continue our trip to Volubilis. It is an ancient Roman city with cool ruins like big stone buildings and arches. You can imagine how people lived a long, long time ago. Next, we will visit Meknes, a city once ruled by a powerful king named Sultan Moulay Ismail. We will see a big gate called Bab Mansour, an old market called the Medina, and even a beautiful tomb where the king is buried. After that, we will travel to a magical city called Fes. It has twisty streets, colorful shops, and many interesting exploring places. People say it is like stepping into a storybook. Finally, we will sleep in a comfortable riad (a unique Moroccan house) right in the heart of Fes.

Day 4: Guided tour of Fez

After breakfast, we will explore the fantastic city of Fes with a local guide. Fes is a special place full of history and culture. First, we will see the big gates of the Royal Palace. Then, we will go through the famous Blue Gate into the old Medina, a maze of little streets full of shops and surprises. We will visit the beautiful Medrasa Bouanania, the Najjarine Fountain, and the colorful Tanneries where people dye leather. We will also see the Qaraouin Mosque and University, the oldest in the world. After that, we will stop by the Jewish Quarter, called the Mellah. In the afternoon, we will drive to an old fortress with a big city view. Finally, we will return to our cozy riad to rest.

Day 5:Fez – Ifrane – Cedars Forest – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Erfoud – Merzouga

After breakfast, we will travel south via Imouzzer and stop in Ifrane, a pretty town with European-style buildings and cool weather. Next, we will visit the Cedar Forest to see the monkeys. Next, we will go to Midelt for lunch and a little break. After that, we will drive through the mountains and the beautiful Ziz Valley, stopping to enjoy the fantastic views. We will arrive in the Merzouga desert in the afternoon and ride a camel over the soft, golden sand. We will stop on a tall dune to watch the sunset. Finally, we reach our desert camp and enjoy Berber music, dancing, and a sky full of stars. Dinner and sleep in the camp.

Day 6:Merzouga – Rissani – Erfoud – Todra Gorges – Boumalne Dades

We recommend waking up early to see the sunrise over the dunes before departing for Rissani, the former capital of Tafilalet and home to a bustling traditional souk. We will also visit Erfoud to explore fossil workshops before driving through the palm grove oasis of Touroug and Tinjdad. Next, we will arrive at the spectacular Todra Gorges, a paradise for rock climbers with towering red cliffs. We will start the day with breakfast, then visit Rose Valley, known for its big Rose Festival in May. Next, we will pass through Skoura Oasis to Ouarzazate, called the “Gateway to the Desert,” and see its famous movie studios. We will explore Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a cool ancient village seen in movies like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. After lunch, we will drive through the High Atlas Mountains on the Tizi-n-Tichka pass (2,260 meters) and reach Marrakech by evening.

This was by far one of the best vacations we ve ever had the Meknes and Fes city tours were full of fascinating insights and our guide made sure we didn’t miss any important historical details. We also loved the peacefulness of Chefchaouen, with its beautiful blue streets the pricing was transparent, and we felt it was fair for the value we received, especially the luxurious accommodations in the desert the only extra cost was for optional tours which we appreciated as we had flexibility in the trip.

I had an amazing time on this tour and the cultural beliefs of the people we met along the way added so much depth to the experience from the historical sites like Volubilis and Meknes to the vibrant markets in Marrakech every stop was a new adventure. Our guide was knowledgeable and always made sure we were comfortable and the only downside was the extra tips & personal items costs but overall it was a trip I would highly recommend to anyone looking to explore Morocco’s imperial cities and desert landscapes.
