Join us for a 5-day tour from Marrakech to Fes. Explore mountains, ancient fortresses, deep canyons, and the Sahara Desert. Go on a camel, sleep under the stars, and meet local Berber communities.
Our 5-day tour begins in Marrakech. We start with an early pick-up from your riad or the airport in Marrakech. Firstly, our trip will take us through the beautiful High Atlas Mountains. We will cross the Tizi-N-Tichka pass, which is 2,260 meters high, and stop to enjoy the stunning views. Our first main stop is Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO site famous for its old architecture and appearances in movies like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. After visiting the Kasbah, we will go to Ouarzazate, which is called the “Gateway to the Desert.” There, we will see the Taourirt Kasbah. We will enjoy dinner and spend the night in a comfortable riad, preparing for the exciting day ahead.
After breakfast, we start the day exploring Ouarzazate. First, we visit the famous Atlas Studios, where numerous well-known movies have been filmed. Then we explore the Taourirt Kasbah, one of the oldest and most impressive mud-brick castles in Morocco. Next, we drive east to visit the beautiful Amridil Kasbah, surrounded by palm trees in the Skoura oasis. We continue to Kalaat M’Gouna, known as the Rose Valley. In May, the town hosts the Rose Festival, where locals sell rose-based products like perfumes, rose water, oils, and cosmetics. After that, we head to the Dades Valley through Boumalne Dades. Along the way, we stop to see the “monkey fingers” rock formations and enjoy a scenic viewpoint overlooking the valley. Dinner and spend the night at a riad in Boumalne Dades.
After breakfast, we continue our 5-day desert tour toward the Todra Gorges. The river has carved a spectacular canyon with tall red cliffs, offering a perfect place to walk and admire the scenery. After exploring the gorge, we drive through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad, with free time for lunch along the way. By the afternoon, we arrive at the Sahara Desert in Merzouga. Here, you will ride camels across the golden dunes. We will stop on top of a high dune to watch the magical sunset. Then we continue to the desert luxury camp, where you will enjoy Berber music, dance around the campfire, and relax under the starry desert sky. Dinner and overnight stay at the camp.
We recommend waking up early to see the beautiful sunrise over the golden dunes. After breakfast, we ride our camels back to Merzouga, where the driver awaits us. Today, we explore desert life. We visit an ancient eyeliner mine, where people used to get black powder for makeup. Then, we meet nomadic families, share mint tea with them, and learn about their simple way of living. In Khamlia village, we listen to Gnaoua music, a special type of African drumming. After lunch, we walk through a palm grove, a peaceful oasis in the middle of the desert. We also stop by Flamingo Lake, where pink flamingos sometimes gather. After a long day of exploring, we enjoyed a nice dinner and slept in a comfortable hotel in Merzouga.
On the last day of our 5-day tour itinerary from Marrakech to Fes, we start with a tasty breakfast at the hotel. Then, we leave the desert and head to Rissani, an old trading town. We will explore the busy souk if it’s a market day (Tuesday, Thursday, or Sunday). Next, we will visit Erfoud, a town known for its fossils and marble. Then we travel along the Ziz Valley and stop for a great view and pictures. After lunch in Midelt, we visit the cedar forest to see the Barbary macaques. Later, we will stop in Ifrane, a town with snowy winters and houses like those in Europe. Finally, we reach Fes, dropping you off at your riad or the airport, ending our amazing trip!

This tour was the highlight of our trip to Morocco! The landscapes were stunning, from the Todra Gorges to the vast Sahara. The food was delicious, the accommodations were great, and the experience in the desert was magical. Ifrane and the cedar forests were a nice surprise on the last day.
