Our trip begins with a morning pickup from your accommodation in Fes. First, we will go to Ifrane, a town known as the Swiss of Morocco because of its alpine-style architecture and cool climate. Next, we will visit the Cedar Forest in Azrou, where you can see monkeys. After a lunch stop in Midelt, we continue driving through the scenic Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass alongside the Ziz Valley, known for its lush palm groves. Experience Berber music, dance, and enjoy a traditional dinner under a sky full of stars.
We recommend waking early to watch the magical sunrise in the Sahara before returning to Merzouga via camel trek or 4×4. After breakfast, we set off to explore the desert region, including a visit to a traditional nomadic family, where we will experience their unique lifestyle and hospitality over a cup of Berber tea. Next, visit Khamlia village, where we will enjoy a Gnawa music performance showcasing African-influenced rhythms. After lunch, explore the Erg Chebbi dunes by 4×4, visit a palm grove, and discover Flamingos Lake in Merzouga. The day ends with a comfortable stay and dinner in a desert hotel.
After breakfast, we will leave the desert to visit Rissani, the historic capital of Tafilalet, known for its traditional souk (market), which is especially lively on market days (Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays). We continue to Erfoud, where we visit a fossil workshop showcasing ancient marine fossils turned into unique handicrafts. Driving through Touroug and Tinjdad palm groves, we reach the Todra Gorges, a breathtaking canyon with towering red cliffs popular among rock climbers. We will have free time to explore the gorges before stopping for lunch. The journey continues to Boumalne Dades, where we explore the famous Monkey Fingers rock formation before spending the night in a charming Dades Valley riad.
After breakfast, we will take you through the Dades Valley to reach Kalaa Magouna, known for its Rose Festival, which is held annually in May. We will have the chance to visit local cooperatives that produce rose water, essential oils, and perfumes. We continue to Skoura, famous for its lush palm groves, and visit the historic Kasbah Amridil, one of the most preserved kasbahs in Morocco. Finally, we arrive in Ouarzazate, the Hollywood of Morocco, where we visit the Atlas Film Studios and the impressive Taourirt Kasbah. We will have dinner and spend the night at a lovely riad.
On the last day, we visit the UNESCO-listed Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a historic fortified village famous for films like Gladiator, Alexander, and Game of Thrones. We then journey through the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass (2260m), making scenic stops for pictures and lunch before arriving in Marrakech.
