Your 4-day Fes to Merzouga desert tour begins with a morning pick-up from your accommodation in Fes. Our first stop is the charming town of Ifrane, renowned for its alpine-style architecture and cool climate. Next, we visit the Cedars Forest, where you can interact with playful Barbary macaques. After lunch in Midelt, we will continue through the Tizi-n-Tilghmt Pass, stopping to admire the breathtaking views of the Ziz Valley. Passing through Errachidia, we reach Boumalne Dades, stopping at the unique “monkey fingers” rock formations and a scenic viewpoint over the valley. Overnight stay in a riad in Dades Valley.
After breakfast, we will visit the beautiful Dades Gorges. Then, we will drive to the impressive Todra Gorges, where tall red cliffs form a stunning canyon. You will have free time to explore the area and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, we will reach the Merzouga desert. You can then go on a camel trek across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. Before you ride, your guide will show you how to mount and handle the camels to ensure a safe and comfortable trip. You can also go quad biking (ATVs) if you want something different. Before reaching your luxury desert camp, you will watch a stunning sunset on the dunes. Here, you will enjoy a delicious Moroccan dinner under the stars, followed by traditional Berber music and dancing around the campfire.
Wake up early to experience the magical sunrise over the Sahara Desert. After breakfast, return to Merzouga by camel or 4×4. Spend the day exploring the region, starting with an off-road drive to visit an ancient kohl mine. Next, visit a nomadic family to learn about their traditional way of life over a cup of Berber tea. Our journey continues to Khamlia Village, where you will enjoy the unique Gnaoua music and dance. We will then visit Palm Grove and the seasonal Flamingo Lake, followed by free time for lunch. Overnight stay in a hotel in Merzouga.
On the last day of your 4-day tour from Fes to the Merzouga desert, we will leave the desert after breakfast. First, we will visit Rissani, a busy town with a traditional market that is most lively on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Next, we will stop in Erfoud to see a workshop that makes fossilized marble. Our scenic drive continues along the Ziz River, where we will pause to take in the panoramic views of the valley. After lunch in Midelt, we will drive through the Cedars Forest and Ifrane before returning to Fes, where your tour will end. We will drop you off at your accommodation or the airport in Fes.
You can charge your devices at the luxury desert camp. However, it’s a good idea to bring a power bank for extra backup.
The tour provides breakfast and dinner at your accommodations. You can request vegetarian or special dietary meals. Lunch is not included, but you will have the chance to eat at local restaurants.
