We will pick you up early from the airport or your accommodation in Fes to start the 4-day Fes to Marrakech desert tour. Our first stop will be Ifrane, known for its cool climate and alpine-style architecture. Next, we will visit the Cedars Forest, home to playful Barbary macaques, where you can enjoy some time feeding them. After lunch in Midelt, we will continue our scenic journey through the Tizi-n-Tilghmt Pass and along the Ziz River, famous for its lush date palm plantations. In the afternoon, we will reach the Merzouga Sahara Desert. You will enjoy a camel ride across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi during sunset. Your evening includes a traditional Moroccan dinner under the stars, followed by Berber music and drumming around the campfire. Spend the night at a luxury camp in the desert in Merzouga.
We recommend waking up early to see the beautiful sunrise over the golden dunes. After breakfast, we ride our camels back to Merzouga, where the driver awaits us. Today, we explore desert life. We visit an ancient eyeliner mine, where people used to get black powder for makeup. Then, we meet nomadic families, share mint tea with them, and learn about their simple way of living. In Khamlia village, we listen to Gnaoua music, a special type of African drumming. After lunch, we walk through a palm grove, a peaceful oasis of green trees in the midst of the desert. We also stop by Flamingo Lake, where pink flamingos sometimes gather. After a long day of exploring, we enjoyed a nice dinner and slept in a comfortable hotel in Merzouga.
After breakfast, we leave the desert and travel to Rissani, the historical capital of Tafilalet, where we can visit the lively market (souk) held on specific days. Next, we stop in Erfoud to visit a fossil workshop before continuing through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad. Arriving at Todra Gorges, admire the dramatic rock formations rising to 300 meters. We will have free time to explore before lunch. Later, we drive through Boumalne Dades to see the Monkey Fingers rock formation and a panoramic view of the valley. We will enjoy dinner and spend an overnight in a charming riad.
