Your 10-day Morocco tour from Fes to Marrakech will begin with an English-speaking driver picking you up at the airport and taking you to your accommodation in Medina. You will stay at a beautiful traditional Moroccan riad in the city center. On the first day, you will have some free time to explore the city of Fes, depending on your arrival flight time.
We will take you on a tour of Fes after breakfast at riad with the help of a local guide. Fes is a city in Morocco known for its rich culture and religious significance. Our first destination will be the gate of the Royal Palace, followed by an exploration of the medieval Medina. The Medina is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will enter through the Blue Gate, also known as Bab Boujloud. We’ll explore various places inside, including the Medrasa Bouanania, Najjarine Fountain, Tanneries, and the Quaraouin Mosque and University, the world’s oldest university. Following the Medina, we’ll go to the Jewish quarter, known as the Mellah. Afterward, we’ll take you to an ancient fortress, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Medina and the city of Fes. Finally, we’ll return you to your riad.
We will have a warm breakfast and then head south through Imouzzer to visit Ifrane, a city known as the Switzerland of Morocco because of its low temperature, snow, and alpine-style architecture. We will also visit the cedar forest, where you can see Barbary Macaques. After that, we will go to Midelt for lunch before we head to the Sahara desert. On the way, we will drive through the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and along the Ziz River. In the afternoon, we will arrive at the Merzouga Sahara desert. You will ride a camel and cross the sandy desert to enjoy the sunset on top of a high dune. We will then reach the desert luxury camp, where you can listen to Berber drums music and dance around the campfire under the vast open sky of stars. Dinner will be in the camp, where you will spend the night.
Wake up early to experience the magic of a desert sunrise. After breakfast, we will ride our camels back to Merzouga, where our driver will be waiting. This part of the 10-day Morocco tour includes exploring the dunes, wild lakes, fossil sites, and oases in Merzouga. We will visit an old eyeliner mine, meet nomads in their traditional tent, and enjoy Berber tea. You will also experience the lively Gnaoua music in Khamlia village. This small city is the birthplace of the Alaouite dynasty and the first imperial city in Morocco. The medina has a lot of history and offers authentic experiences, including a traditional market (souk), fortified villages (ksour), and places to park donkeys. From Rissani, we will drive to Ouzina along the Paris-Dakar rally track. This 4×4 experience will give you an exciting ride and let you see the natural beauty of the stony plateaus and dry areas. Finally, we will arrive at the palm groves of Ouzina. You will spend the night in a hotel and have dinner there.
Our trip will start after breakfast. We will drive through Erg, a rocky desert, and see traditional Berber villages with nomadic tents. Next, we will visit Ramlia Oasis, which has plants in the middle of the desert. Then, we will go to Lake Maider, a large dry lake that shows part of the Sahara’s ancient history. They are worth exploring, and we will stay overnight at a hotel.
