7 Day Desert Tour From Marrakech – Road of a Thousand Kasbahs – Itinerary:

Day 1: Marrakech – Ait ben Haddou

After crossing the High Atlas through the mountain pass of Tizi n’Tichka at 2,260m altitude, the first stop will be in the town of Aït Ben Haddou, declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco in 1987 and famous for having been the scene of the filming of famous movies. Aït Ben Haddou is a fortified complex located in the Ouarzazate province from where the one known as “The Route of a Thousand Kasbah” starts

Day 2: Ait ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Zagora

When we arrive at Ouarzazate, we are greeted by the magnificent Kasbah Taourirt, which stands guard over the city. The terrain continues to astonish on the route to Zagora, with palm groves and hundreds of kasbahs that make up the lovely Draa Valley. We will reach Tamegroute, the town of green ceramics, from Zagora, the “gateway of the desert.” We’ll get to see the clay kilns where pottery is made, as well as a strange underground kasbah where some families live.

Day 3&4: Zagora – Merzouga Desert

We arrive in Merzouga after crossing through the desert areas of the Oumjran plateaus and numerous Berber villages lost in the middle of nowhere. The desert and its magical dunes await us. Tour of the fun desert tracks and the nomadic towns in the area. Visit the Khmalia village and its musicians, the Gnawas. Excursion in dromedaries, dinner, and Berber party, will complete another day of stay that we will finish off resting in tents in the middle of the Erg Chebbi.

Day 5: Merzouga Desert – Toudra Gorges

We leave the desert and go to meet the majestic Gorges of Todra, a large canyon with vertical walls that reach 300 meters in height. The route to the gorges is really beautiful and with stunning panoramic views since the road runs through a valley full of palm trees, crops, and old adobe villages (kasbah).

Day 6: Toudra Gorges – Dades Valley

In the Dades Valley, spectacular rocks await us with their shapes that remind us of the monkeys’ fingers. The reddish landscape of this valley is wild, with snow on one side and a semi-desert on the other. Its curious geological forms make up one of the most beautiful spectacles to behold

Day 7: Dades Valley – Marrakech

And we continue visiting kasbah such as the Kasbah Itrane and the beautiful Kasbah Amridil, which we find after crossing the Valley of Roses, hidden among the huge palm groves of Skoura overflowing with date palms. We crossed the High Atlas to finish our trip in Marrakech.
