Later, we’ll go to the Bahia Palace (S: XVI), which is an example of Muslim Middle Ages aristocratic living, and where the ambassador’s room stands out with its cedar wood ceiling. Continue on foot to the famed “Jemaa el F’naa Square,” which has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lunch is complimentary, and the remainder of the afternoon is unrestricted. In Marrakech, you can stay in a Riad.
Get you from your hotel and begin our drive to Dades. We’ll turn off to enter the Atlas massif after crowning Tizi’nTichka (or Tichka), Morocco’s highest road stop. After the stop, we will travel into the Atlas Mountains and its spectacular landscape, passing through one of Morocco’s most beautiful and unique routes.
When we arrive in Ouarzazate, we will have a panoramic tour of the city and visit the Kasbah Taourirt. The house of the Pasha Glaoui in the past. Visit the principal rooms, including the “del Pacha” chamber, which has stunning views of the valley. Then we’ll head to the Dades Valley, passing through towns like Skoura and Kelaa M’Gouna, which are known for their rose-based products. Dinner and lodging are provided in Dades.
Breakfast. Departure on the road, passing through the Thousand Kasbahs route and stopping to admire the landscape along the way at the Todra Gorges. Later, we’ll continue south, passing through Erfoud and arriving in Rissani, a little town with a lively medina that’s rarely visited by tourists and where the area’s nomads come to resupply.
We’ll continue to Merzouga, where we’ll switch modes of transportation. We’ll meet the dromedaries, who are more accustomed to the desert, and ride through the dunes with them to watch the sunset. We’ll return to our dunes-side camp. We’ll celebrate the new Year by gathering around a fire under the stars tonight. Dinner and lodging will be provided in Camp.
Those who seek to have a one-of-a-kind experience can witness an unmatched beauty, the sunrise, a symphony of light and silence that will amaze us first thing in the morning. Following a quick breakfast, we will board our 4×4 in the direction of Ouarzazate, passing through some lovely desert landscapes till we arrive at the Draa Valley’s remarkable palm grove, Africa’s largest palm grove with a length of over 150 kilometers. We’ll head north at this point and climb through the palm grove to Ouarzazate, where we’ll spend the night. Ouarzazate provides dinner and lodging.
Before returning to Marrakech, we will visit the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou after breakfast. It is the most spectacular ksar (Kasbah) in the Moroccan south and the setting for numerous film projects, having been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With the High Atlas in the background, this is a panoramic view of the region. Arrive in Marrakech in the afternoon and have the remainder of the day to yourself.
Private departure transfer to Marrakech airport at the specified hour. It is recommended that you arrive three hours before your flight.
