We will also visit the Taourirt Kasbah, an ancient fortified mud castle. Then, we head to Agdz and follow the Draa Valley, the longest river in Morocco. We will stop along the way for some photos of the panoramic views of palm tree groves, stunning Kasbahs, and Berber villages. We will have free time for lunch in Nkob or Alnif.

After lunch, we will continue to Merzouga Sahara through Rissani. Upon arrival at the Erg Chebbi sand dunes, we will switch to camels to cross the Sahara desert. We will make a stop on top of a big dune to watch the magical sunset. Afterward, we will head to the campsite, a blend of traditional nomadic luxury camp. You can enjoy the Berber drums’ music while dancing around the campfire under the shiny, starry sky. Dinner will be served at the camp, and you will spend the night there.

3rd day: Merzouga – Nomads – Khamlia – Erg Chebbi dunes – Palm grove

To fully experience the enchanting beauty of the desert, it’s essential to rise early and see the mesmerizing sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, we’ll enjoy a camel trek back to Merzouga, where our driver awaits us. The day ahead promises an array of captivating experiences as we explore the diverse landscapes of the Merzouga region. Our exploration begins with a visit to an ancient eyeliner mine, offering insight into the local history and traditions. We’ll then have the opportunity to interact with nomadic families, sharing tea in their intricately woven tents while gaining insight into their way of life. Our next stop is Khamlia village, famous for its lively Gnaoua music and dance performances which have their origins in sub-Saharan Africa.

Following a leisurely lunch at a local restaurant, we’ll take a serene stroll through a lush palm grove, immersing ourselves in the tranquil oasis surroundings. Continuing our journey, we’ll discover the breathtaking Flamingos Lake, a pristine oasis nestled amidst the desert landscape. As the day draws to a close, we’ll be satisfied with a delicious dinner and bed to our comfortable accommodations, reflecting on the day’s adventures amidst the serene desert ambiance.

4th Day : Merzouga desert – Rissani – Erfoud – Todra Gorges – Boumalne Dades

On the fourth day of 5 days Marrakech desert itinerary, we leave the desert after breakfast to visit Rissani. This town was once the capital of Tafilalet and is still a major trading center in the region. On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, there is a big souk (market) that you can visit. After spending some time there, we will go to Erfoud, where we will visit a workshop that specializes in fossilized marble.

Then we will drive through palm groves in Touroug and Tinjdad to reach the Todra Gorges. The Todra River has carved out a grand canyon through the mountains, creating a high, red cliff-sided canyon that is an ideal place for rock climbers. You will have some free time to wander around the gorges and appreciate the landscape. After that, we will stop for lunch at a restaurant before continuing to the Dades Valley through Boumalne Dades. Along the way, we will stop at the “monkey fingers” rock formation and a spot atop a mountain overlooking the Dades Valley. Finally, we will end the day with dinner and an overnight stay in a hotel.

5th Day : Boumalne Dades – Roses Valley – Skoura Palm Grove – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech
