1st day: Fes – Ifrane – Cedars forest - Midelt – Ziz valley - Erfoud – Merzouga Sahara

We will pick you up early from the airport or your accommodation in Fes to start the 5-day Fes to Marrakech desert tour. Our first stop will be Ifrane, which is known for its cold temperature and snow and as the Switzerland of Morocco. We’ll also visit the cedar forest, where you can see Barbary Macaques and even feed them if you’d like. We will then continue to Midelt for lunch before heading to the Sahara desert.

On the way, we will drive through the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and along the Ziz River. In the afternoon, we will arrive at the Merzouga Sahara desert. You will ride a camel and cross the sandy desert to enjoy the sunset on top of a high dune. We will then reach the desert luxury camp, where you can listen to Berber drums music and dance around the campfire under the vast open sky of stars. Dinner will be served in the camp, where you will spend the night.

2nd day: Merzouga – Nomads – Khamlia – Erg Chebbi dunes – Palm grove

To fully appreciate the beauty of the desert sunrise, it’s important to wake up early in the morning. After breakfast, we’ll ride camels back to Merzouga where the driver will be waiting for us. Our day will be spent exploring the stunning region of Merzouga, which offers a variety of activities such as viewing sand dunes, wild lakes, mines, fossil areas, and oases. Our exploration will begin by off-road driving to an ancient eyeliner mine, followed by a visit to the nomads’ handmade woven tent where we’ll enjoy a cup of Berber tea and learn about their way of life.

The next stop will be Khamlia village, where we’ll experience the Gnaoua music and dance performances. The village’s inhabitants are originally from sub-Saharan countries such as Mali, Sudan and Niger. We’ll have free time for lunch at a restaurant before taking a stroll in the palm trees grove. Our last destination will be the wild lake of Merzouga, also known as the Flamingos Lake, just a few kilometers away. We’ll spend the night at a hotel and enjoy dinner.

After spending some time there, we will go to Erfoud, where we will visit a workshop that specializes in fossilized marble.

Reviews & Testimonials

My husband and I recently had an amazing 5-day excursion in Morocco to celebrate my birthday. We started the tour from Fes and traveled through the desert all the way to Marrakech with Morocco Agogo Tours. Throughout the trip, our guide Hamid was phenomenal, and he kept us laughing the entire time. We visited many major sites such as Ait Benhaddou, Todgha gorge, Erg Chibbi, and also enjoyed stunning views off the beaten path. We even got to camp in the desert, play with Barbary apes, make new friends, and learn a lot about Moroccan and Berber life along the way.
